March 14, 2002 -- This Open Letter was sent to Mike Rivero,
Webmaster, <http://www.whatreallyhappened.com
>, on March 14, 2002. Dear Mike: Late in January this year, I wrote and published "Operation Northwoods: The Counterfeit," http://www.holocausts.org/911/northwds.html . As you are aware, in that piece, I challenged the authenticity of Operation Northwoods documents cited in James Bamford's latest book Body of Secrets, (Doubleday, 2001). Northwoods was a nefarious plan allegedly hatched by the Pentagon in 1962 to fabricate incidents to justify war with Cuba. One such plan included the shooting down of a bogus US passenger jet -- filled with fictitious vacationing Americans -- by a bogus Cuban military jet. The Northwoods documents were unknown to the public until the publication of Bamford's book. Bamford claims to have gotten the documents through an FOIA request. I challenged the authenticity of the documents Bamford used, pointing out, for example, that the writers had used the British idiom "off on a holiday," instead of the American idiom "on vacation, " thereby indicating the writers were not Americans. I cited several lexicologists to support my position that "off on a holiday," was at the time of the writing, a British expression. I pointed out that, had Northwoods been written by the Pentagon, such idiosyncratic use of language would have been removed as the document underwent the many rounds of bureaucratic Pentagon review. You're not on my mailing list (as far as I know), but still the next day (January 25) I received a note from you (below), disagreeing with me. You said I was wrong, that you had grown up in New England, that folks there used "off on a holiday." But more importantly, you said that the authenticity of Operation Northwoods had been confirmed by "other sources;" that is, sources other than those Bamford relied upon. I responded the next day (below). I did not argue with you. I did not say "How do you know the Northwoods writers and reviewers all came from your neck of the woods in New England?" I did not comment on your lack of lexicology support for your statements. I simply asked you to refer me to your "other sources" that showed Northwoods was indeed authentic and American. Since that time, you have not responded to my inquiry. If you have another verifiable and reliable source showing Northwoods is authentic (other than the faulty documents Bamfored used), please let me know. I understand you must be busy and I do not expect a treatise. Just a simple reference or a link at your website will do. I am sure my readers would be most interested in your information, as would be the American public generally. Could you put the reference on your site? Awaiting your response at your earliest convenience; I remain your most humble and obedient critic, Carol A. Valentine P.S. That sure is a bogus-looking piece of Pentagon Boeing 757 wreckage you have at this URL: http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/hunthoax.html I broke out laughing when I first saw it! It's a tickle. Looks as if it's hundreds of feet from the crash site -- and not one scar or indentation on the lawn. Looks like the "wreckage" was placed there, very, very carefully. The shadowing's good, though. What's your source for that picture, and why haven't you cited it on your page? ;-) Carol Mike's Original MessageReceived: from mx03.mrf.mail.rcn.net ([207.172.4.52] [207.172.4.52]) by mta05.mrf.mail.rcn.net with ESMTP id <20020125163242.PPPO354.mta05.mrf.mail.rcn.net@mx03.mrf.mail.rcn.net>; Fri, 25 Jan 2002 11:32:42 -0500 Received: from mail15b.boca15-verio.com ([208.55.91.59]) by mx03.mrf.mail.rcn.net with smtp (Exim 3.34 #5) id 16U9HO-0005hY-00 for skywriter@erols.com; Fri, 25 Jan 2002 11:32:42 -0500 Received: from malasada.lava.net (64.65.64.17) by mail15b.boca15-verio.com (RS ver 1.0.60s) with SMTP id 010782817 for <SkyWriter@holocausts.org>; Fri, 25 Jan 2002 11:31:14 -0500 (EST) Received: from (locally authorised broken client using invalid hostname!) arcana (ohai026.lava.net[64.65.73.186]) (1211 bytes) by malasada.lava.net; Fri, 25 Jan 2002 06:32:13 -1000 (HST) via sendmail [smtp] id <m16U9Gv-0014TcC@malasada.lava.net> for <SkyWriter@holocausts.org> From: "Michael Rivero" <rivero@homebakedmusic.com> To: "Carol A.
