Branch Davidians living and dead: Who are they?

Because autopsies have not been completed, there has not been an official accounting of everyone inside the Branch Davidian compound April 19 when fire swept the building. This list of names of people believed to be in the compound was compiled from the FBI, news reports, interviews and McLennan County officials. The list contains the names of confirmed dead identified as of Friday.

David Koresh, 33, leader of the Branch Davidians. He was named Vernon Wayne Howell when he was born in Houston to a 15-year-old unwed mother, Bonnie Clark. Reared by his grandmother for five years, then by his mother and stepfather, he didn't meet his birth father, Bobby Howell, until age 24. A high school dropout, he worked at odd jobs and aspired to be a rock musician.

After being expelled by a Seventh-day Adventist church in Tyler, Mr. Koresh joined the Branch Davidians iun 1981. In 1984, he married 14-year-old Rachel Jones, the daughter of a prominent member of the group. Charismatic, with an impressive knowledge of the Bible, he became a favorite of leader Lois Roden and took control of the group after a gun-fight with Ms. Roden's son, George, in 1987.

As their leader, Mr. Koresh assembled an arsenal of weapons, "married' numerous wives and had numerous children.

CONFIRMED DEAD

Kathrine Aldred, 24, Canadian

Alrick George Bennett, 35, British, former building supervisor.

Susan Benta, 30, British, former social worker.

Blake, 28, British, former factory superintendent, who followed his girlfriend, Beverly Elliott, to Waco. He is believed to have been killed in the initial firefight.

Mary Jean Borst, 49, from Roseau, Minn.

Shari Doyle, 18, daughter of survivor Clive Doyle.

Doris Fagan, British citizen, mother of survivor Livingstone Fagan.

Stephen Henry, 26, British, joined the cult with his four siblings and his mother.

Peter James Hipsman, 28, multiple gunshot wounds in the head and abdomen, believed to have died in the Feb. 28 firefight. He was from Chester, N.Y., and was recruited while in Hawaii.

Floyd Houtman, 61, lived in New Bedford, Mass., before moving to Waco.

David Michael Jones, 38, worked as a mailman while living at the compound. He was the eldest son of member Perry Jones and a brother-in-law of sect leader David Koresh. He served in the Air Force and left the group for several years before returning. Mr. Jones was involved in the 1987 gunbattle. He was divorced from the daughter of fellow cult members but retained custody of their three children, who left the compound during the siege.

Livingston Malcolm, 26, British citizen, native of Jamaica.

Douglas Wayne Martin, 42, a graduate of City Coillege in New York, Harvard Univeristy law school and Columbia University, where he earned a master's degree in buisiness administration. He worked as a law librarian at North Carolina Central University before moving to Waco to join the Branch Davidians in 1984. Mr. Martin was introduced to the group by wife Sheila, who left the compound early in the siege. He was the father of seven children, including three who left the compound, two older daughters believed to have died and an older son and daughter whose where-abouts are unknown.

Juliete Santoya Martinez, 30, recruited into the group by her mother, Ofelia Santoya, who left the compound early in the siege. Mother of five.

James L. Riddle, 32, former airline ground crewman from North Carolina. His wife Rita and niece, Misty Ferguson, survived the fire. Ruth Riddle, his sister, left the compound during the siege.

Steve Schneider, 43, from Merrill, Wis., graduated from the Univeristy of Hawaii in 1986. Authorities considered him Mr. Koresh's second-in-command during the siege, pointing out that he was so devoted to his leader that he gave his wife to Mr. Koresh.

PRESUMED DEAD

Pablo Cohen, 38, from Israel, recruited by Mr. Koresh to play in the band during a trip to Jerusalem several years ago.

Evette Fagan, 42, from England. The wife of survivor Livingstone Fagan, and the mother of two children who left the compound during the siege. She and her husband sold their belingings to follow Mr. Koresh two years ago after listening to him preach during a trip to England.

Dayland Gent, believed to be 3 years old, the son of Australian Nocole Gent anmd Mr. Koresh, and the nephew of Peter Gent, who is believed to have died in the initial gun battle.

Diana Henry, 28, British psychology student, joined the cult in 1991 after being introduced to Mr. Koresh by her boyfriend, John McBean. Ms. Henry recruited her entire family, except for her father who remained in England.

Paulina Henry, 24, British,m sister of Diana Henry.

Phillip Henry, 22, British, brother of Diana Henry.

Vanessa Henry, 19, British, sister of Diana Henry.

Zilla Henry, 55, British nurse, originally from Trinidad. She lived in England for 35 years before moving to Waco to join the cult with her five children, while her husband remained in England.

Cyrus Howell, 8, son of Rachel Jones Howell and David Koresh.

Rachel Jones Howell, 23, legal wife of cult leader David Koresh.

They married when she was 14 and he was 24, in a ceremony performed by her father, Perry Jones, an elder and longtime Branch Davidian. Mother of Star and Cyrus Howell and Bobbie Lane Koresh.

Star Howell, 6, daughter of Rachel Howell and David Koresh.

Sherri Lynn Jewell, 43, a former schoolteacher, recruited while visiting Hawaii in the mid-'80s. She lived with the group in California before moving to Waco. Her daughter, Kiri, was removed from the compound in 1991 after the child's father asked for emergency custody after reports of child abuse.

Serenity Sea Jones, 4, daughter of Michelle Jones, who was the younger sister of Rachel Jones Howell, and David Koresh.

Bobbie Lane Koresh, 1, daughter of Rachel Howell and David Koresh.

Jeffrey Little, 32, computer programmer from Michigan. He was recruited into the cult while studying at the University of Hawaii in the mid-'80s. After living with the Branch Davidians in California, he moved to Waco in 1990. He was "married' to cult member Nicole Gent.

Nicole Elizabeth Gent Little, 24, from Australia. The daughter of former cult members, she was also the sister of Peter Gent who reportedly died in the initial shootout, and the mother of two children believed to be fathered by Mr. Koresh.

Lisa Martin, 13, daughter of Wayne and Shelia Martin.

Sheila Martin, 15, daughter of Wayne and Sheila Martin.

Abigail Martinez, 11, daughter of Juliete Santoya Martinez.

Audrey Martinez, 13, daughter of Juliete Santoya Martinez.

Crystal Martinez, 3, daughter of Juilete Santoya Martinez.

Isaiah Martinez, 4, son of Juliete Santoya Martinez.

Joseph Martinez, 8, son of Juliete Santoya Martinez.

Jilliane Matthews, age and nationality unknown.

Alison Bernadette Monbelly, 31, British, girlfriend of survivor Renos Avraam. Ms. Monbelly joined the Branch Davidians last year.

Melissa Morrison, 6, British, daughter of Rosemary Morrison.

Rosemary Morrison, 29, British psychology graduate, recruited by the Henry family. She joined the cult a year ago with her daughter, Melissa.

Theresa Nobrega, 48, British, joined the Branch Davidians last year. Her daughter Natalie, 11, was released during the siege.

Judy Schneider, 41, from Poynette, Wis., where she was the senior prom queen. Ms. Schneider met her husband Steve, in 1971, and married him 10 years later. She did clerical work and helped pay his way through the University of Hawaii. they met Mr. Koresh in Hawaii and became loyal followers. Her daughter, Mayanah, 2, was believed to be fathered by Mr. Koresh.

Floracita Sonobe, 34, from the Philippines, was not believed to be a follower of Mr. Koresh but lived in the compound to keep her family together. The wife of Scott Sonobe, she was the mother of two children, who left the compound during the siege.

Scott Kojiro Sonobe, 35, met Mr. Koresh in Hawaii. He worked as a grounds-keeper but had ministerial aspirations. He lived in California before moving to Waco.

Aisha Gyarfas Summers, 17, the daughter of Australian followers of Mr. Koresh and the sister of survivor Oilver Gyarfas. She moved to Waco three years ago and was the "wife' of fellow cult member Gregory Summers. Her daughter, Startle Summers, was believed to be fathered by Mr. Koresh, according to the FBI.

Gregory Allen Summers, 28, from Parkersburg, W. Va., where he served as high school mascot his senior year. He met Mr. Koresh while attending Hawaii Pacific College and joined the group in 1985. Mr. Summers worked as a sound engineer in California before moving to Waco.

He is believed to have "married' Aisha Gyarfas about four years ago.

Startle Summers, 1, daughter of Aisha Gyarfas and Mr. Koresh.

Hollywood Sylvia, 2, daughter of Lorraine Sylvia.

Lorraine Sylvia, 40, wife of fellow cult member Stan Sylvia, who was in California during the siege, and mother of three, including one sone who left the compound during the siege. She and her husband joined the Branch Davidians about 10 years ago.

Rachel Sylvia, 13, daughter of Lorraine and Stan Sylvia.

Doris Vaega, British.

Margarida Joann Vaega, 47, wife of Neal Vaega, and mother of a 7-year-old, who was released during the siege.

Neal Vaega, 38, from New Zealand, once owned a bakery in Hawaii.

Perry Dale Jones, 64, long-time member and leader. The father-in-law of Mr. Koresh, he is believed to have died in the initial firefight. He was the husband of Mary Jones who was not in the compound during the siege, and the father of 11, including three children believed to have died.

John-Mark Stanley McBean, 27, British, boyfriend of Diana Henry.

JayDean Aliimaulo Wendel, 34, former police officer in Honolulu, reportedly in charge of the cult's target practice range and fitness training for women. The mother of four children released from the compound during the siege, she is believed to have died in the initial gun battle.

Jennifer Andrade, 21, a former retail clerk from California who followed her sister to Waco a year ago.

Kathy Andrade, 24, a former office worker, she moved to Waco in 1991, and was believed to have a daughter, Chanel, by Mr. Koresh.

Chanel Andrade, 1, daughter of Kathy Andrade and David Koresh.

Beverly Elliott, British, former office worker before moving to Waco. She was a cousin of survivor Livingstone Fagan and girlfriend of fellow cult member Winston Blake.

Lisa Marie Farris, 24.

Sandra Hardial, 27, British who was recruited by the Henry family.

Michelle Jones, 18, daughter of church leader Perry Jones, sister-in-law of David Koresh and mother of three of his children, including Serenity Sea Jones. Cult "husband' David Thibodeau survived.

Mark Wendel, husband of fellow member Jaydean Wendel and father of four children who left the compound during the siege. Mr. Wendel once worked as a golf course groundskeeper while living in Hawaii, where he met Mr. Koresh.

Page Gent, 1, daughter of Nicole Gent and Mr. Koresh.

FIRE SURVIVORS

Renos Avraam, 29, former businessman from London, is being held as a material witness.

Jaime Castillo, 24, Californian charged with conspiracy to murder federal agents. He played the drums in Mr. Koresh's band and shared his passion for motorcycles.

Graeme Leonard Craddock, 31, a former teacher from Australia, he moved to Waco a year ago. He has a degree in electrical engineering and is being held as a material witness.

Clive Doyle, 52, from Australia, became an American citizen in 1985. He is recovering from burns and has been charged with conspiracy to murder federal agents. His daughter Shari died in blaze.

Misty Ferguson, 16, daughter of Rita Riddlke, and nice of Ruth and Jimmy Riddle. No charges have been filed against her.

Derek Lloyd Lovelock, 38, British chef who was recruited by the Henry Family. He is being held as a material witness.

Ruth Ottman Riddle, 29, Canadian, "husband' Jimmy died, and nice Misty survived. Sister-in-law Rita left the compound during the siege. Her mother, Gladys Ottman, also left the compound earlier. The Two Ottmans began reading Branch Davidian literature about eight years ago and sold their restaurant to follow Mr. Koresh. Ruth jumped from the roof during the fire and is being held as a material witness.

David Thibodeau, 24, moved to Waco from Maine to play drums in Mr.

Koresh's band. His cult "wife' Michelle Jones is believed to have died. Mr. Thibodeau has been relased from jail but is considered to be a material witness.

Marjorie Thomas, 30, British, recovering from burns at Parkland Memorial Hospital. No charges have been filed against her.

PREVIOUSLY RELEASED

Norman Allison, 28, unemployed Jamaican, also known as Delroy Nash, he was captured after the second skirmish Feb. 28 and charged with attempted murder.

Brad Branch, 34. Charged with conspiracy to murder a federal official and possession of a firearm in commission of a federal offense.

Livingstone Fagan, 33, a British social worker before moving to Waco, he sold his belongings to join Mr. Koresh two years ago. he left the compound during the siege and is being held as a material witness. His children also weere relased from the compound, but his wife and mother are believed to have died.

Oliver Gyarfas, 19, a furniture upholsterer from Australia. His sister Aisha is believed to have died in the fire, as weill as his niece. He is being held as as material witness.

Victorine Hollingsworth, 59, British. She was born in Guyana but moved to Britain in the '50s. She is a material witness but has returned to England.

Woodrow Kendrick, 63, long-time member. He was arrested several days after the initial firefight and is charged with attempted murder and firearms violations from the second gunbattle.

Margaret Lawson, 75, from Hawaii. She is being held as a material witness.

James Lawter, 70. He si being held as a material witness.

Sheila Judith Martin, 46, the wife of lawyer Wayne Martin, who is believed to have died in the fire with two of their seven children. Three younger children were released previously.

Catherine Mattson, 77, originally from Providence, R.I., she moved to the compound about 20 years ago. She is being detained as a material witness.

Gladys Ottman, 67, Canadian. She is the mother of Ruth Riddle and is being held as a material witness.

Annetta Richards, 62, she lived in Jamaica and Canada before moving to Waco. She is being held as a material witness.

Rita Fay Riddle, 35, she is the mother of survivor Misty Ferguson.

Her sister-in-law, Ruth Riddle, also survived the fire but brother Jimmy is believed to have died. Before moving to Waco, she worked as inspector at the glass jar factory in North Carolina. She is being held as a material witness.

Ofelia Santoya, 62, mother of Juliete Santoya Martinez and grandmother of five children believed to have died in the fire. She lived with the group in Palestine for several years before moving to Waco. She is being held as a material witness.

Kathryn Schroeder, 30, former Air Force sergeant. She was the mother of four children released from the compound, and her husband, Michael, was killed in the second shootout Feb. 28. She is charged with conspiracy to murder a federal official and possession of a firearm in commission of a federal offense.

Kevin Whitecliff, 31, a former guard at the Oahu Community Correctional Center, he had left the cult before, only to return. Mr. Whitecliff is charged with conspiracy to murder a federal official and possession of a firearm in commission of a federal offense.
